But just like any relationship if you give someone every and anything that they want there's no respect in the end.

Gilbert's reaction is more in line with the fact that he believed in James' ability to get it done the way James' thought it would. He capitulated to every whim and desire and demand that James made. His posse had unlimited backstage access among other things...James has been enabled at every level. Why do you think he didn't choose Chicago...they wouldn't put up with that.

This has been in the works for a while...probably during the olympics...is it really a coincidence that the Heat has maneuvered themselves to be in a position for this to happen? There is nothing about this move that was above the board or fair to the Cavs nor the league. Also the way James manufactured the situation in Cleveland assured that they would not be "in his way" as he moved to Miami.

It saddens me that James referred to himself as "LeBron James" instead of "me" during his "show".

Unfortunately, it's hard to understand or truely appreciate the psyche of the Cleveland sports fans. We're not a destination city...there's not that much of an
influx of outsiders into the community. Therefore...it's a homegrown sports base,
where loyalty is a big deal. Dan Gilbert response came from the heart...it will be interesting to see what he reveals about the situation of the past few years.

That being said owners are owners just like politicians are politicians they do what's best for them and it's about making money and having power. Inbetween the owners and players...it's millionaires v. Billioniares...and sadly it's not about the game. Sure everyone wants a championship and it should be what you aim for...but you should love and appreciate the game, it's not just a means to an end.

It's also sad that sports has as much power as it does...seriously, it is just a game.Tim H.http://hnatster.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7089915695240170666.post-6133660886394242262010-07-09T14:29:14.312-04:002010-07-09T14:29:14.312-04:00Great post And if you look at the past, it's ...Great post And if you look at the past, it's the ownerships fault that he left. They were never able to surround him with the pieces he needed. Kobe demanded out in LA...but then the Lakers came to their senses LeBron never bashed his own organization, just realized that certain owners don't have what it takes to put together a championship team it's because Dan Gilbert is a loser and always will be.LBSS 2012https://www.blogger.com/profile/16901560507157157389noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7089915695240170666.post-31041661366472736362010-07-09T13:04:57.764-04:002010-07-09T13:04:57.764-04:00fantastic...fantastic...Shabooyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11693792730563104977noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7089915695240170666.post-14416385158708760832010-07-09T11:51:33.120-04:002010-07-09T11:51:33.120-04:00Damn Steve, you're on the money. I couldn't believe it when I heard the Cavs fans I know bitching out LeBron today, calling him a traitor, scumbag etc.

I mean, they call it **FREE** agency for a reason, right? If my contract expires at a workplace, and having done a good job for 7 years I decide to seek new challenges, my old boss is more likely to give a good reference and a handshake than call me human trash. Gilbert is crazy.

Don't get me wrong, LeBron is crazy as hell and arrogant and prideful for the whole "1-hour-tv-special-will-I-won't-I" thing. But at least in return for dealing with his arrogant-jerk ass we get to see some A-Grade entertaining basketball.

Fuck Gilbert. The textbook definition of the proverbial 'hater'.Warthognoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7089915695240170666.post-1337066516620522492010-07-09T11:31:44.819-04:002010-07-09T11:31:44.819-04:00Thanks for the comments! Thanks for the comments!sgw94noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7089915695240170666.post-31021779737698070832010-07-09T11:21:43.284-04:002010-07-09T11:21:43.284-04:00Excellent read.
